With a degree in art pedagogy from the Higher School of Fine Arts in Berlin, Anneliese Witt moved to Ibiza in 1960—after her marriage to the painter Rafael Tur Costa—and lived on the island until her death in 2018. She worked as a plastic arts teacher at Escola Blat d'Eivissa and opened her own art school for children and adults, Infantart. In parallel, she obtained a degree in applied arts from the School of Arts and Crafts of Eivissa.
Since 1982 she has developed an artistic production as a ceramicist and has participated, since its foundation in 2000, in the exhibitions organized by the Association of Visual Artists of the Balearic Islands (AAVIB). In 2008 she was part of the Agua exhibition during the Zaragoza Expo and exhibits individually in Ibiza, at Via 2 Gallery. In August 2011 she exhibited at the Center Sociocultural s'Alamera together with Rafael Tur Costa.
About her work
‘She started from a material, clay, which is mythical memory, ancestral memory, she worked on it with perseverance and enjoyment, and told us a story, which was hers. She […] created an artistic ceramic work far removed from pragmatism. She shaped a work based on freedom, search and authenticity.’ (Eva Tur Antonio)
