On 9 March we opened “SOMETHING FOR AN ISLAND”, a project by industrial designer Alban Le Henry that pays tribute to the Ibizan “payesa” chair. The opening event, held in La Carpintería, offered the opportunity for the numerous attendees to explore and challenge the conventions between the user and the producer of such an everyday object as a chair.

Through a performative action in which Alban Le Henry and his team brought to life an assembly line, we experienced first-hand the birth of the "Island" chairs from a simple plank of wood to a ready-to-use product. Finished chairs could also be purchased or the kit for its subsequent assembly, as well as the project’s publication, a detailed manual with the blueprints of the "Island" Family and the instructions for its manufacturing.
