SFAI.01 - opening

We inaugurated Something for an Island, a project by industrial designer Alban Le Henry that pays tribute to the traditional Ibizan silla payesa chair.

The opening event, held at La Carpintería, offered the many attendees the opportunity to explore and challenge the conventions between user and producer of an object as everyday as a chair. Through a performative action in which Alban Le Henry and his team brought the assembly line to life, attendees experienced first-hand the birth of the Island chairs: from a simple wooden plank to a finished product ready to be used.

During the day, visitors could acquire either the finished chair or a kit for later assembly, alongside the project's publication — a meticulous manual containing the blueprints of the Island Family and instructions for its construction.
